My Status

Well, I've been thinking a lot about a webseries I started filming a while ago. I've also been thinking about the podcast I wanna do. I'm finding a lot of overlap between the two in how I want to incorporate the type of content. So I'm starting to think of reworking the series' concept.

The podcast is still something I'm going to do, and I'm writing out ideas on topics. Figuring out how to touch on 'em all is a little tricky, but doable for me. However, the length is a big concern and while I previously thought it'd be fun to go for at least 30 minutes of discussion, I'm thinking I should make it shorter. The idea of a short podcast seemed weird to me, but then I found Steve Agee's podcast and a lot of his early episodes are under five minutes. I'm a fan of the guy and the shows are entertaining, but five minutes does seem to be a little too short. He says it himself at one point.

With that said, what does this mean for my ideas? I'm thinkin' I should shoot for at least 15 minutes. Seems like a solid idea for me, especially considering that hard-drive space is a big concern for me as I'm still wanting to store video footage. From that note...

I'm seriously thinking of redoing the series. Yes, the first episode was filmed. And while I did edit the opening prologue, I looked at the footage and get the sense that I should either redo the main show, or take the ideas I like and do something different with them. I wasn't expecting this, but I'm sure many go through this. Ya do one thing and ya like it. Then during the editing process or whatever, you look at what ya have and just tell yourself, "There may be something else here."

That's when you learn to look at everything and figure out if one tiny thing can be made into something different. That's what this is for me. So while I'd love to make the rest of the show a go-ahead, I'm thinking I could take the backbone concept and make a short film. Initially, it was going to be a comedic series about how a chatty witty guy would put together a variety show of sorts. Since I've had supernatural stuff on the mind, though, an idea I incorporated into the prologue has my attention. I'm digging the idea of making a short film out of it, so that's the plan.

I'm thinkin' that the main guts & ideas of the series would be better in a different form. In addition to all this, I'd like to make use of my drawing skills and finish this book on Blender Compositing so I can do more things with video.

In short, things are just plain crazy.
